okay so if you have an @date that's in the past it shows up as overdue and if you include a tag #watingsince then you can pretty much achieve this functionality(if I've understood correctly) with the current filtering capabilities.
To add a date on which you're going to chase/follow up, just add it as a subnode of the item.
