have a "master" outline
Either a new type of outline pane, or the default behavior for the current outline pane - where clicking on rows in the outline would shift the focus of all other panes (tasks, calendar and email panes would show only their respective items related to the selected row in the outline)

of course, have an option in each pane for "all items" or "linked to outline" (as described above)
